Getting Transparent With Clear Aligners
Clear aligners use a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners that no one can tell you’re wearing. So, that means you can smile more during treatment, as well as after.
Clear aligners are made with 3D computer imaging technology and have been proven effective for all kinds of orthodontic issues.
Why Would I Want Clear Aligners?
Not only are the aligners invisible, but you can take them out whenever you need, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment. With braces, you’ll need to avoid a whole list of foods. Plus, brushing and flossing are no problem.
Invisalign or Clear Aligners at CHT Orthodontics feature comfortable, smooth, BPA-free plastic. This means no irritation from metal braces and no interference with your life!
Added bonus? No metal and wires usually means you spend less time at CHT getting adjustments. (We’ll miss you, though!)
Clear aligners also allow you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you start, so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete.
Are Clear Aligners Right for Me?
We’ve established that clear aligners give adults and teens an attractive option for straightening teeth without the appearance or limitations of traditional braces.
Today, most smiles and bites can be treated with clear aligners. Clear aligners are not the right option for every case, so talk to the doctors to see if it is a good option for you! If you are a good candidate, our team will determine your eligibility and develop a custom treatment plan for you at your free consultation.
Let’s take a look at some the clear advantages that make us love aligners at CHT Orthodontics.
1. Easy to Wear
Clear aligners work best if you’re able to wear them 20 – 22 hours per day. You only need to remove the aligners to eat, brush, and floss!
The aligners are clear and completely smooth, making them comfortable and virtually invisible.
2. Removable
Are you a popcorn lover? Can’t imagine life without caramel apples? Because clear aligners are removable, no foods are off limits!
3. Virtually Invisible
The treatment allows you to straighten your smile so inconspicuously, you might have to show your friends before-and-after pictures to convince them you’re actually wearing orthodontic aligners!
How Do Clear Aligners at
CHT Orthodontics Work?
Each patient is different, but treatment typically takes 12 to 15 months for most adults. Teens can expect to wear clear aligners as long as they would traditional braces.
Let’s take a closer look at what you can expect:
Getting Started
At your consultation appointment, we will take some digital X-rays, pictures, and scans of your teeth, which Dr. Carrie, Dr. Ami, or Dr. Karen will use to produce a comprehensive 3D image of your smile and bite.
Customizing Your Plan
Our orthodontists will then use this 3D scan to develop your custom treatment plan, including an estimated duration of your treatment time. Using this 3D scan, you’ll even see a virtual representation of the movement of your teeth in each phase of aligners.
After we develop a treatment plan, we’ll create a series of custom-made aligners just for you.
Wearing Your Aligners
You’ll wear your aligners throughout the day, removing them to eat, brush, and floss. We recommend about 22 hours a day for the best results! The aligners will completely cover your teeth, and we bet no one will be able to tell you’re wearing them—unless you tell them!
Progressing Through Your Treatment
Your first set of aligners is a slightly straighter version of your smile starting out. After approximately one week, you’ll swap for a new set of aligners to wear. Each subsequent set is a slightly straighter version of the last set, allowing your teeth to gradually and gently shift into a final, perfect smile.
Clear aligners treatment plans can include between 10 – 50 aligners, based on your current smile and bite. You’ll meet with our team approximately every six to ten weeks to check on your progress.
Of course, you can always call us if you have any questions in the meantime!
Finishing Your Treatment
Once you’ve completed the initial series of aligners, Dr. Carrie, Dr. Ami, or Dr. Karen will determine if an additional series of aligners is necessary to perfect your smile.
Once you finish, it’s time to celebrate that brand-new smile! Dr. Carrie, Dr. Ami, or Dr. Karen will let you know how to wear your retainers, so you can keep that beautiful smile in place.
Clear Aligners for Teens
When we think of orthodontic treatment for teens, traditional metal braces almost always come to mind.
However, clear aligners can be an excellent option for busy teens who might already feel self-conscious about their teeth.
Fits Your Busy Life
Because you receive several clear aligners at each appointment, you’ll typically have fewer appointments required than for traditional braces.
On top of that, you won’t need to worry with appointments to handle broken brackets or wires!
Perfect for Active Lifestyles
Because clear aligners are completely smooth and removable, they’re perfect for teens who play sports or certain instruments.
Unlike traditional braces, aligners can be temporarily removed for band practice or replaced with a traditional mouthguard for that lacrosse game.
Flexible & Invisible
Let’s be honest: Your teen might already be feeling self-conscious about their teeth! Clear aligners allow them to straighten their smile without drawing attention to the treatment.
Additionally, being able to remove the clear aligners means no off-limit foods. And who really wants to manage their teen’s movie popcorn consumption?
Price
You might think that clear aligners more expensive than traditional braces, but that’s typically not the case!
Every patient and their custom treatment plan are different, but aligners are usually comparable in price to traditional braces and covered by most dental insurance plans.
